frequently asked questions

  • I work with adolescents (15+), adults, and their families. Eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns are my specialty areas, but I work with a wide variety of presenting issues, including (but not limited to): mood disorders, anxiety, trauma (single incident, attachment, complex), and interpersonal issues.

Many of my clients are part of the LGBTQ+ community and/or identify as neurodivergent.

I also work often with other mental health professionals.

I do not see couples and/or offer exclusively family counseling.

I also provide professional consultation services for other therapists and other helping professionals.

  • Unfortunately, I can’t! Though I’d love to be able to provide services to folks nationally, I am only licensed in New Jersey and Texas and neither state has reciprocity (at this time).

  • Most of my clients see me weekly, especially in the beginning of treatment. Depending on a number of factors (eg, progress, schedule changes), this may change.

There is no “right” answer to how the therapeutic process is “supposed” to go! What works best for you is what works best for you - and we will figure that out together.

  • I see clients Monday through Thursday, typically between the hours of 11am and 7pm. I infrequently have evening appointments open, as these appointments are reserved for adolescents after school or adults with conflicting work schedules.

  • No, I am not paneled with any insurance companies. At your request, I am able to provide a specialized receipt - a Superbill - that you may be able to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is best to call your insurance company to find out what your benefits are and to see if you are eligible for reimbursement.

Some helpful questions to ask your insurance company:

    1. What are my out of network benefits?

    2. What is my deductible for out of network benefits?

    3. What is my reimbursement rate?

  • I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots, all of which are currently full (as of 2/2023).

Low-cost counseling options can be found here, here, and here.

  • The amount you pay for a session goes toward:

    • coordination with other professionals (dietitians, psychiatrists, medical doctors, etc.)

    • office rent and utilities

    • secure video platform for telehealth

    • electronic health record

    • malpractice insurance

    • annual state licensure fees

    • continuing education courses (which are necessary to maintain licensure)

    • marketing costs

To name a few! You may only see your therapist for 1-2 hours per week, but that does not mean that we are only doing 1-2 hours of work.

My fee is determined by the above items, my credentials, and my expertise.

  • 24-hour notice is required for all cancellations (barring extenuating circumstances). Clients will be billed for the full amount of session with late or no notice.
