SERVICES & FEES

        20-Minute Consultation = Free

  • I offer a free 20-minute phone or face-to-face consultation for new clients. This is an opportunity to determine if we would be a good fit and for you to ask any questions you might have. If counseling with me does not seem right for you, I can provide you with alternative referrals.

Initial Session (90 minutes) = $165

  • The initial session is where I get to know you/your child/your family better! In this session, I will likely ask you questions about your history, about what has brought you to counseling, and about some goals you may have for counseling. I may not learn everything about you during this session and that's okay! If you choose to pursue counseling with me, we will have plenty of time to flesh out what you've shared with me during this session.

Individual Counseling Sessions (50 minutes) = $150

  • I typically recommend weekly counseling, especially for clients with eating disorders. The cost of session includes my collaboration with other providers between sessions and any between session points-of-contact that may occur.

Family Sessions (50 minutes) = $150

  • Family sessions are offered as needed and may be recommended as part of the client's treatment plan.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • I am currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas. I advise you to check your insurance benefits as early as possible. If you are struggling with this, we can call your insurance company together during session.

  • For clients with other insurance and/or those who are private pay, I am able to provide a specialized receipt that you may be able to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is best to call your insurance company to find out what your benefits are and to see if you are eligible for reimbursement.

  • Additionally, I do offer sliding scale. I don't believe that good care should be exclusive to only those who can pay a fixed price. We can discuss this at your first appointment and determine an appropriate fee if you need a reduced rate. If we are unable to find a rate that works for you, there are some low cost options that can be found at OpenCounseling or Open Path Collective.

  • Cash, check, and all major credit cards are accepted. Payment is expected at the time of session unless other arrangements have been discussed.

  • 24-hour noticed is required for all cancellations (barring extenuating circumstances). Clients will be billed for the full amount of session with late or no notice.

  • Eating disorders often require more advocacy and education than other issues. Thus, I offer talks, interviews, workshops, and presentations in Austin and surrounding areas. Please contact me directly via e-mail or the contact form below if you'd be interested in these services!

GROUPS

In addition to individual therapy, I facilitate a FREE support group in the Austin area:

Pro-Recovery Eating Disorder Support Group

Run through The Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness:

Our organization understands the significance that a community can offer individuals, providing them with a safe space where they can begin to heal therapeutically. As the only national organization in the country to provide free, clinician-led support groups, these communities not only aid in decreasing isolation, but provide individuals with a sense of belonging. They offer an environment of acceptance that serves as a refuge for those who may feel misunderstood and also creates a community of care. The support groups offered at the Alliance allow group members to reach their full potential by working through the struggles of their illness in order to move forward into a life of recovery.

The group is held every Monday evening from 7:30-9pm at Congregation Beth Israel, 3901 Shoal Creek Blvd., Austin, TX and is co-facilitated by Kate Peoples, LMSW.

Support In Recovery (SIR)

Center For Discovery Outpatient programs offer free and confidential Support In Recovery (SIR) Groups for clients. These free SIR groups are open to the community and are held evenings at the Outpatient Program locations by caring and capable Center For Discovery therapists. The Free Client Support Group is open to Alumni, current Clients, and Potential Clients of all ages. The groups are an opportunity to process issues related to the eating disorder recovery process in a safe environment with specialized professionals.

The group is held every Thursday evening from 7-8pm at 1717 W 6th Street, Ste. 300, Austin, TX. There’s an underground parking lot and street parking. Parking validation can be provided.

At the same time (and same location), a Loved Ones Support Group is also held, run by the Program Director, Marjorie O’Connor.
